THE DERWENT GROUP

The culmination of careful work since the 1980’s, The Derwent Group was the brainchild of our Founder, Albert Gubay, and has been formed to maximise revenues from our expanding commercial property portfolio so that they can be used to support good causes. This charitable legacy is central to the way our business is managed.

Primarily focused on the North of England, strategic acquisition and developments have created a portfolio now boasting over 2.8million  sq ft of prime retail, leisure and commercial property. Retail Parks make up over 70% of the portfolio and are situated in key residential conurbations from Liverpool to Hull and Manchester to Sheffield.

The identity of The Derwent Group was established in 2005 to give focus to various property portfolios that the Founder, Albert Gubay, had helped to create since the 1980’s.

Those property interests included the substantial retail, leisure and land holdings that have been developed into one of the north of England’s leading property investment portfolios. The Group also has property interests in Ireland and the Isle of Man.

The companies that make up The Derwent Group have, since 1994, been owned by trustees charged with giving effect to the Founder’s dramatic charitable ambitions, which are now a reality through The Albert Gubay Charitable Foundation.
